Working arrangements set up on your behalf

Know what is being done in your case abroad, and by whom.

Finding a lawyer in another country, explaining the case and following its progress takes work of its own. Our coordination service is designed to carry out these stages according to a set plan and with regular communication.

  • The right working relationship

    Lawyer selection and initial discussions

We evaluate options for lawyers or law firms suited to the country and the legal issue concerned. We coordinate the accurate presentation of your case in preliminary discussions and the clarification of service and fee terms.

  • A defined work plan

    Agreement, documents and tasks

We clarify what work will be done, which documents are expected from whom and how information will be provided. We make sure the legal course proposed by the local lawyer is explained to you clearly.

  • Ongoing case coordination

Following developments and keeping you informed

We track the progress of the agreed work, the information received from the local lawyer and any open issues. We pass on your questions and bring developments that require a decision to you for your instructions.

The service is designed for individuals and companies in Türkiye with legal matters abroad, and is structured by assessing the country, subject matter and needs of the case. Suitable working arrangements can also be set up for matters already being handled by a lawyer.

Coordination in eight stages

From the first question to the closing of the case.

Whether a new lawsuit is to be filed, an ongoing case followed or a non-contentious legal matter handled, the process starts at the stage where it is needed.

  1. We define the case and your expectations

We establish the country, the legal issue, the parties, the current stage and any known deadlines. We assess the documents and your objectives, and determine the scope of the coordination required.

Outcome: A case summary, priorities and an initial document list.

  2. We research a suitable lawyer or firm

For candidates suited to the subject and the country, we gather the information needed to evaluate their professional authorization, practice area, working language, availability and approach to fees. We present the options for your decision.

Outcome: Lawyer options and a comparison of working terms.

  3. We discuss the legal matter on your behalf

Within the scope you authorize, we present the facts, the documents and your expectations to the local lawyer. We ask for explanations of the proposed legal course, the risks, the time limits and the steps required, and pass the answers on to you.

Outcome: The local lawyer’s preliminary assessment and answers to your questions.

  4. We coordinate the agreement and the engagement

The local lawyer’s scope of services, fees and expenses, and our firm’s coordination service, are explained separately. The necessary preparations are made for the client’s approval, the agreement, the power of attorney and communication authorizations.

Outcome: A clear division of roles and written working terms.

  5. We organize the work plan and document preparation

In line with the legal steps indicated by the local lawyer, we plan the order of actions, the documents needed and how updates will be provided. We coordinate translation, certification and document delivery requirements.

Outcome: A work plan, document flow and task schedule.

  6. We track the progress of the case

We request status updates and documents on the agreed work, and monitor the notified time limits, the actions expected and any open issues. In the event of delays or uncertainty, we ask the local lawyer for an explanation.

Outcome: The current status of the case and the items requiring follow-up.

  7. We present developments so that you can decide

We set out the local lawyer’s explanations, the options and the anticipated costs in plain terms. On matters that require a decision, such as a settlement, additional work or new expenses, we take your instructions and pass them on.

Outcome: Client updates and a recorded flow of instructions.

  8. We coordinate the outcome and the next steps

We pass on to you the decision or the outcome of the transaction, the appeal and enforcement options indicated by the local lawyer, important dates and the closing documents. If necessary, we define the scope of a new stage separately.

Outcome: Notification of the result, case documents and next steps.

A clear division of roles and responsibilities

Your questions

Is this model right for your needs?

If, for example, you have a legal matter in Germany, we can assess your need for coordination in finding a suitable lawyer, discussing the matter and following subsequent developments on your behalf.

I already have a lawyer abroad. Can I still use this service?

Yes. We can assess coordinating communication with your current lawyer, the document flow and updates on the case. The work is carried out on the basis of your authorization and an appropriate communication arrangement with the local lawyer.

Does your firm attend hearings abroad?

In this service model, the lawsuit and local representation in the country concerned are handled by a lawyer authorized in that country. The role of Güneş & Güneş is coordination, follow-up and updates on the client’s behalf within the agreed scope.

Do you check the local lawyer’s work?

We request information and documents on the progress of the agreed work, and follow up on expected actions and unanswered points. This does not mean taking over the local lawyer’s legal assessment or professional responsibility.

In which countries can coordination be provided?

The country, the subject matter, the stage of the case and the availability of a suitable authorized lawyer are assessed together. Whether the service can be provided, and its scope, are clarified at the initial review.

Is the coordination fee included in the local lawyer’s fee?

Our firm’s coordination fee is set separately. The local lawyer’s fee, official costs and other expenses are also explained separately; the written terms of work show which payment is made to whom, and for what.

What information is needed to get started?

You can share the country concerned, a brief summary of the matter, details of the parties, existing documents, the case number and the lawyer’s contact details if any, and any known deadlines. Acceptance of the service and the necessary authorizations are settled separately.
