AT EVERY IMPORTANT STAGE OF YOUR FILE

Information on the case process and hearing records

At the important stages of the file, the rule is to inform you without waiting for you to ask. The effect of the document on your file and the contribution expected from you are explained together.

  1. Acceptance of the matter and the start

The scope of the matter undertaken, the responsible attorney and the communication arrangements are explained. When a lawsuit or application is filed, the file details, the first steps and any obligations set out in the preliminary examination record (tensip zaptı) are reported to you.

  2. Before the hearing

The court, the file number, and the day and time of the hearing are relayed; so are whether your personal attendance is required, the documents to be prepared and the important issues to be addressed at the hearing.

  3. After the hearing

The hearing record is shared with the client. Interim decisions issued, the outcome of the hearing, the date of the next hearing and the steps to be taken are explained. If the record is not yet accessible, first information is given; once the record becomes available, it is forwarded separately.

  4. Reports, evidence and interim decisions

Expert reports, results of on-site examinations, important petitions and new evidence are assessed together with their effect on the file. Matters that require a statement or objection are reported together with the relevant time limit and the information needed.

  5. Decision and legal remedies

The decision and its reasoning are explained, including the outcomes in your favor and against you. The possibility of an objection, an appeal to the regional court of appeal (istinaf) or an appeal to the Court of Cassation (temyiz), the filing period, the instructions required, fees and expenses, and the scope of the existing agreement are stated clearly.

  6. Collection, enforcement and closing

The finalization of the decision, its enforcement or other implementation steps are reported. Collections made on your behalf are announced to you without waiting for the file to close; the transfer of the payment and the account concerned are explained. The expense accounting, the delivery of documents and any ongoing proceedings are assessed separately at closing.

Written file status summary

The latest development, its effect on the file, the action taken, the next step, the important date and the contribution expected from you are shown together. Even in periods with no new development, information is given about the follow-up under way on an expected report, an agency response or a decision.

This approach is applied, as appropriate to the nature of the matter, in civil and criminal proceedings, administrative and tax disputes, enforcement proceedings and other legal processes.

OPEN COMMUNICATION TO PREVENT LOSS OF RIGHTS

Firm deadlines and important dates are communicated clearly.

In notices about firm deadlines set by the court and about statutory filing and objection periods, four points are clearly shown:

  • Action to be taken: Which information, document, payment or instruction is required.
  • Division of duties: The action to be taken by the firm and the contribution expected from you.
  • Deadline: The statutory or court-set period and, if needed, the final hour; separately from the internal delivery date set by the firm for preparation.
  • Legal consequence: The risk that may arise if the period is missed or the requested action is not taken.

Time-limited notices do not wait for the general response time.

When necessary, receipt of a critical notice is confirmed by telephone or another designated channel; important points are conveyed in writing. The 48-hour first-response principle does not extend a lawsuit or application period; urgent and time-limited matters are not held back.

Share the notification, its envelope and the delivery date, as well as the arrival and service details of an electronic notification, without delay. A message from our firm does not replace official notification. The period is calculated under the rule on service or learning of the specific act; it is not calculated solely from the date on which you saw the message.

Confirming that a message or document has been received does not amount to the express instruction required for settlement, waiver, acknowledgment of the claim or any other significant act.

TAKE PART IN THE PROCESS KNOWING YOUR RIGHTS

Your core rights in the attorney–client relationship

The seven core rights we observe in the attorney–client relationship safeguard your informed participation in the process.

Your right to regular information

You can receive regular and timely information about every stage of your case or the matter undertaken, and ask about the status of the file and the next step. The way you are kept informed is set according to the nature of the file; important developments are reported without being asked.

Confidentiality of your information and documents

You have the right to ask that your file information be protected under the principles of professional secrecy and personal data protection. Confidentiality is observed from the first inquiry; even if the matter is not taken on or the representation ends, the professional secrecy obligation continues.

Asking questions and clear explanations

You can ask about any concept, document, decision or procedure you do not understand, and ask for your options to be explained in plain language. Communication in Turkish, English, German and Russian and any file-specific translation needs are assessed at the outset. Official/sworn translation and additional expenses are explained separately. You may tell us about any communication or accessibility needs.

Fee, expense and account information

The attorney’s fee, the work it covers, the payment terms and any additional stages are explained at the outset. The fee is kept separate from court fees and from expert, on-site examination, notification, translation and other expenses. You can find out about anticipated and additional expenses; how the advance is used, collections made, any refundable balance and the related documents. The risk of the opposing party’s attorney fee award (vekâlet ücreti) and litigation costs is also stated.

Reviewing documents and obtaining copies

You can review petitions, records, reports, notifications, decisions and other shareable documents, request copies, and ask for their legal meaning to be explained. Statutory access and confidentiality restrictions, the rights of third parties and the rules on returning documents are observed; if there is a limitation, the reason is explained. Delivery is made to the authorized recipient through an appropriate channel.

Loyal and diligent representation

You have the right to expect that your matter will be handled with loyalty and diligence, with regard to your rights and legal interests. Personal or third-party interests do not take precedence over the duty. Conflicts of interest are assessed at acceptance and throughout the representation; no representation that conflicts with professional rules is undertaken. While evidence, deadlines and risks are assessed with care, the attorney’s independence is preserved.

Learning the litigation strategy and taking part in decisions

You can learn the proposed litigation or defense strategy and the facts and evidence it rests on, as well as the options of litigation, application, negotiation, mediation and settlement together with their risks. If the course to be followed changes because of new evidence, a report or a decision, the reason and the effect are explained.

The legal and financial consequences of decisions on settlement, waiver, acknowledgment, release and legal remedies are explained; your necessary instruction and special authority are observed. The assessment rests on the information and evidence available; no particular outcome or length of proceedings is guaranteed.

THE FOUNDATION OF A RELATIONSHIP OF TRUST

Attorney–client confidentiality and information sharing

The information and documents you share are used for the legal assessment of your inquiry and the performance of the service accepted, with due regard to confidentiality and personal data protection. Statutory obligations, the protection of rights and retention operations are carried out in accordance with the relevant legislation.

Who is information shared with?

Information is shared with the client or a person whose authority has been verified. Family ties, spousal status or company employment do not by themselves create authority; for companies and matters with several clients, the contact persons are determined.

In necessary sharing with courts, authorities and officials, the legal basis and proportionality are observed. For employees and persons from whom support is obtained, too, access is limited to what their duties and needs require; the confidentiality obligation is maintained.

Confidentiality and attorney oversight in digital tools, too

In translation, cloud and artificial intelligence tools as well, professional secrecy and the attorney’s duty of care apply. Sharing with a service provider is assessed in terms of necessity, legal basis, the sensitivity of the data, the conditions for transfer abroad and safeguards.

Substantial use of artificial intelligence that affects your file or your data is disclosed; consent or approval is obtained where required. You may ask that its use be avoided out of reasonable data-security concern; your request is assessed together with the requirements of the work. The final legal assessment and professional responsibility rest with the attorney.

Our confidentiality and information security principles

PROTECTION OF PERSONAL DATA

Your rights over your personal data

In processing personal data, purpose limitation, necessity and appropriate security measures are fundamental. Providing a privacy notice is not the same act as obtaining explicit consent; nor does it mean that explicit consent is necessarily required for every data processing activity. The appropriate legal ground and, where necessary, the additional conditions for special categories of data are assessed.

Under Article 11 of Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK), you have the right to learn whether your data is processed, its purpose and the persons to whom it is transferred; to request correction of incomplete or inaccurate data; where the conditions are met, to request deletion or destruction and notification of these operations to recipients; to object to a result arising against you solely from automated analysis; and to request compensation for damage arising from unlawful processing.

A KVKK application is a separate legal process.

The application is made through identity verification and the procedures set out in the legislation. Requests are concluded as soon as possible and at the latest within 30 days. The final response is communicated in writing or electronically. An explanation given only by telephone does not replace this response. Your statutory complaint and judicial remedies are reserved.

A deletion request does not by itself remove an ongoing statutory retention requirement or the need to protect rights. For detailed purposes, legal grounds, transfers and application methods, please review the KVKK privacy notice.

ACCESSIBLE AND RESPONSIVE COMMUNICATION

Communication, information requests and feedback

Your information requests and your views on the service are referred to the responsible person; the assessment and the next step are explained to you.

Your information request

Include your name, your file number and your question in your request. If the matter is time-sensitive, state the deadline and the relevant document. If you see missing or incorrect information in a summary provided to you, ask for a correction; if a review is needed, the next step is explained.

Your views, suggestions and complaints

Your views, suggestions and complaints are assessed by the responsible persons; the outcome and any corrective step are reported to you. Your statutory application and complaint rights are protected.

First response within 48 hours

You receive a first response to your general inquiries and communication requests within 48 hours. This is not the time within which a comprehensive legal review or a file action is completed.

Important instructions and explanations are confirmed in writing. Notifications are carried out through the designated channel; you need to tell us of any changes to your contact details.

Responsible attorney and continuity of communication

The responsible attorney and the communication channel are explained at the outset. If the attorney changes or is temporarily unavailable, the authorized contact person is notified; on a handover, the status of the file, ongoing time limits and pending matters are taken into account.

Reconsideration of your feedback

If the first explanation is not sufficient, you may request reconsideration by the firm’s management. Asking questions or giving feedback does not affect the diligent follow-up of your file. An internal review by the firm does not replace statutory application routes and does not stop time limits.

FOR THE PROCESS TO RUN SMOOTHLY

Accurate information and timely sharing matter.

  • Share completely all significant events, earlier applications and documents that may be in your favor or against you.
  • Report notifications, new evidence and important discussions with the other side without delay.
  • Provide requested documents, instructions and advances on costs by the stated date; if you cannot obtain them, let us know before the time limit expires.
  • Do not share your e-Devlet, UYAP or bank passwords or one-time verification codes. When sending documents, verify the recipient and the communication channel.

Secure document sharing and our official communication channels are the routes you can use.

End of representation and transfer of the file

Your decision to choose or change attorneys is assessed together with the contract and its statutory consequences. When the engagement ends, the current status of the file, ongoing time limits, delivery of documents and settlement of accounts are clarified. The statutory provisions on fees, expenses and document retention are reserved.

SHORT ANSWERS

Frequently Asked Questions

Does viewing my file on UYAP replace the attorney’s briefing?

Online access to the file makes it easier for you to reach the document. Our firm’s briefing also covers explaining the legal meaning of the document, the risks and the next step; it is not limited to sharing a screen capture.

Will I be told about discussions with the other side?

The substance of discussions held with the other party or its counsel within your file, and any settlement offer, are conveyed to you. The instruction and special authority required for settlement are also taken into account.

Can I get the record even if I do not attend the hearing?

Yes. The record is shared subject to statutory access or confidentiality restrictions; the outcome of the hearing and the steps to be taken are explained.

Does sending a message or document start deadline tracking?

Sending a message or document alone does not mean that the matter has been accepted; the engagement and deadline tracking must be expressly determined. For our existing clients, our duties of follow-up and care within the scope of the accepted matter continue.

Are feedback and a KVKK application the same thing?

No. A view or complaint about the service is handled in the feedback process; a statutory request about your personal data is assessed under the KVKK application procedure and within its time limit.
