If the supporting document is correct
A clear error in transferring the document to the register can be corrected at the population directorate (nüfus müdürlüğü) if the statutory conditions are met. The true nature of the request is checked first.
YOUR RIGHTS AND OUR SCOPE OF SERVICES
Correcting a civil registry record means bringing personal status information into line with the true and legal situation. An incorrect name, date or family link can affect inheritance, land registry, education, social security and passport procedures.
Not every record problem requires a lawsuit, and not every lawsuit is heard in the same court. First we identify the source of the error, the supporting documents and the effect of the request on family ties.

As a rule, the civil court of first instance (asliye hukuk mahkemesi) at the place of residence comes into play. The effect of the change, the persons concerned, the evidence and the decision becoming final are assessed together.
Requests concerning paternity, recognition, denial of parentage or adoption are subject to separate rules. Not every change in the mother or father section of the register is a simple spelling correction.
FROM DOCUMENT TO APPLICATION, FROM DECISION TO REGISTRATION
We focus not only on the change in the record but on its effect on your family ties and official procedures. After acceptance of the matter and the necessary authorization, a follow-up and information arrangement suited to the file is established.
We identify the inaccuracy and the transaction it is blocking; we compare the existing record with the supporting document.
We clarify the administrative application, correction lawsuit or family law route, and the scope of representation, fees and expenses.
We prepare the file with archive and institutional records, foreign documents and, where necessary, witnesses and technical examinations.
After the legal remedies and finalization, we assess civil registry registration and any additional procedures for identity, land registry and other records.
You do not need to have all documents. Missing items and records to be requested from institutions are determined in the consultation.
For each topic, you can find the conditions, key distinctions and documents to prepare in an independent guide.
Acquisition or loss of citizenship, as well as residence permit and deportation procedures, are legal processes different from registration in the civil registry. Parentage requests are handled together with the relevant family law rules.
Not always automatically. It must be determined which institution’s record is wrong; after the final decision has been entered in the civil registry, it should be checked whether a separate application is needed for the land registry, bank, diploma or passport.
Depending on the nature of the procedure, it can be carried out through a diplomatic mission or through a power of attorney that includes the appropriate authority. Cases requiring personal attendance, a statement or a medical examination are assessed separately.
The exact duration and total cost cannot be determined without reviewing the documents. Institutional inquiries, witnesses, technical reports, foreign documents and legal remedies affect the duration. The attorney’s fee, litigation costs and document expenses are assessed separately.
The child’s age, custody and representation status, and the effect of the request on parentage, are examined. If the interests of the child and the representative conflict, the need for a curator (kayyım) may arise; the statement of a parent alone is not sufficient in every application.
The type of evidence varies with the request. Civil registry and supporting documents, official institutional records and, where necessary, technical examination are assessed together. It cannot be assumed that an agreement between the parties or a single statement is sufficient in every case.
Güneş & Güneş Law Firm, founded in Kemer on March 18, 1999, assesses civil registry procedures in all 81 provinces of Türkiye according to the subject-matter jurisdiction, territorial jurisdiction, representation and evidence requirements of the file. Our physical headquarters has been in Antalya since 2007.
In Türkiye-related record and document procedures of persons living abroad, the requirements of diplomatic missions, foreign documents, translation and registration are handled together. Local procedures in a foreign country are coordinated separately with legal professionals authorized there where necessary.
Languages of communication: Turkish, English, German and Russian.
Depending on the nature of the request, the Turkish Civil Code, the Population Services Law and the relevant procedural provisions are applied together.
