Request a Consultation for Civil Registry Matters

Our Approach to This Procedure

Birth and registration dates are kept apart; hospital, school, family and foreign country records are examined together. The necessary technical examination and the effect of the request on other institutions are assessed.

Correcting the Date of Birth, Age and Place of Birth

An inaccuracy in the date of birth or place of birth can affect education, retirement, military service, marriageable age, citizenship, inheritance and other official procedures. An age correction request is assessed not only on the statement of the person or of witnesses, but on the birth certificate, the hospital record, school and vaccination records, the dates of birth of siblings, documents of diplomatic missions, physical and medical examination and other official records.

In this context:

  • Recording of the day, month or year of birth incorrectly
  • A date of birth that does not match the actual birth certificate
  • Differences between the foreign country birth record and the Turkish record
  • Age differences caused by late registration
  • Inconsistency between siblings’ records and birth order
  • Incorrect writing of the place of birth as province, district or country
  • Record errors in the hospital or birth report
  • The need to determine age within criminal proceedings

are examined. In age correction lawsuits, whether a correction has been made before, the basis of the record and the effect of the request on other personal circumstances are also checked separately.

Does an age correction change the retirement date?

Correcting the age in the civil registry record does not by itself change the conditions for retirement. In terms of social security, the first insurance record and the relevant special provisions must be examined separately.

Preparing for the Consultation and Scope of Services

Prepare the record you believe is wrong or inconsistent, the official documents on which that record is based and, if there is one, the rejection letter. Also state the dates of any notifications and procedures. Do not share unnecessary personal data before it has been assessed which documents the file actually requires.

The scope of the administrative application, lawsuit, appeal and post-decision procedures, as well as the attorney’s fee and other expenses, are agreed separately. The outcome and the end date are not guaranteed.
