Points to note in practice
Because listing decisions will be announced on MASAK’s website, obliged entities will need to monitor these announcements and reflect changes in the lists in their customer and transaction controls in a timely manner. It is important to determine internal procedures in advance so that notification and the postponement measure can be carried out promptly when a transaction request from a listed person, entity or organization is encountered.
The Communiqué on Amendments to the Financial Crimes Investigation Board General Communiqué (Serial No: 5) (Serial No: 33), published in the same issue, also changed certain amounts in the Serial No: 5 General Communiqué, which regulates simplified measures under the principle of customer identification. Accordingly, in Article 2.2.7 the phrase “ten thousand” became “twenty thousand” and “twenty-five thousand” became “fifty thousand”; in Article 2.2.9 the phrases “two thousand seven hundred fifty” became “five thousand five hundred”; in subparagraph (a) of Article 2.2.11 the phrases “two thousand seven hundred fifty” became “five thousand five hundred”, while in subparagraph (b) the phrase “one thousand TL” became “two thousand five hundred TL” and the phrase “two thousand seven hundred fifty” became “six thousand five hundred”. This amendment also entered into force on the date of its publication.
