Applications to Official Authorities

Applications such as permits, registrations, licenses, migration or citizenship depend on different legislation and document requirements. Not every application is a lawsuit; the receipt of an application does not mean it has been accepted.

Review the steps, the necessary preparation and the key distinctions together.

APPLICATIONS TO AUTHORITIES / PROCESS GUIDE

How does an application to an official authority proceed?

The steps may run in parallel or change depending on the nature of the matter. Also read the key distinctions below.

  1. Purpose, authority and type of application

The desired outcome, the competent authority, the right to apply and the conditions specific to the legislation are determined. A permit, a registration, an objection and a request for information are not the same process.

  2. Document and representation preparation

Information specific to the application, identity/representation and attachments are prepared; translation, certification and payment requirements, if any, are completed.

  3. Application and registration

The application is made through the appropriate channel; the delivery, the application number and the date record are kept.

  4. Review and completion of deficiencies

The authority’s requests for information/documents and processing time are followed. The effect of completing deficiencies or filing a new application on the time limit is checked separately.

  5. Decision or non-response

The scope of the decision, its service, or the legal consequence of non-response is assessed under the relevant special legislation.

  6. Implementation, objection or lawsuit

In the case of a favorable act, implementation is completed; in the case of an unfavorable one, the available administrative/judicial route is examined. No common objection period is used for every authority.

THIS DISTINCTION MATTERS

Do not overlook the conditions specific to your matter.

This section is a tracking framework; it does not mean that all authorities are subject to a single statutory procedure. A specific time limit cannot be given without determining the authority, the act and the service date.

ASSESSMENT SPECIFIC TO YOUR FILE
